An Australian telehealth clinic
Telehealth clinic for Adelaide, SA
AHPRA-registered Clinicians for patients in Adelaide, by secure video or telephone, under the SA rules set out below.
Adelaide by telehealth
1,470,938 people lived in the Adelaide urban area at 30 June 2025 on the ABS's preliminary estimate, about 6.4 per cent more than in 2021. Adelaide's urban area stretches along Gulf St Vincent from the northern suburbs to the southern beaches, with the Adelaide Hills to the east. Patients there see a LeafLine Clinician by video or telephone, from home, from work, or from anywhere with reception.
In a city of this size a rooms appointment can cost most of a morning in traffic and parking. Telehealth removes that part: you take the call at home, at work, or in a parked car, and the Clinician works from your history and what you tell them.
What South Australian law adds for patients in Adelaide
South Australia counts time. Section 18A of the Controlled Substances Act 1984 (SA) requires an SA Health authority once treatment runs past two months, and the count includes months with a previous prescriber, so bring the date your treatment began. People aged 70 or over and Notified Palliative Care Patients are exempt.
Your Clinician checks ScriptCheckSA, South Australia’s real-time prescription monitoring system, before prescribing.
The federal side is the same everywhere. Our guide to getting a prescription through SAS-B explains the TGA approval, and if you are moving from another clinic, the South Australia changing-clinics page covers what transfers and what does not.
Your consultation, taken in Adelaide
-
Check your eligibility
Start with the confidential eligibility questionnaire. It screens out situations the clinic cannot take on, so nobody books a consultation that cannot go ahead. Patients must be 18 or over.
-
Book video or telephone
Video works on a phone, tablet or computer with a camera. If video is not workable on the day, a telephone consultation is available instead. Support and bookings run 8:30am to 6:30pm local time during standard time.
-
What to have ready
Have a list of your current medications and doses, any recent letters, results or discharge summaries, your Medicare card if you have one, and your home address, which goes on any prescription. Take the call somewhere private: a parked car works, an open-plan office does not.
-
After the consultation
Your Clinician decides whether any treatment is appropriate. Where the medicine is not on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods, they apply to the TGA under Special Access Scheme Category B, and to the SA health department if the rules above require it, and they prescribe nothing until every approval is back. Follow-up reviews are held by video or telephone too.
Adelaide's Primary Health Network
Adelaide falls within Adelaide PHN. A PHN is a regional body funded by the Australian Government that commissions primary care services rather than providing consultations. LeafLine Clinic is a private telehealth clinic with no link to any PHN.
A PHN's website is a sensible place to look for the GPs, pharmacies and community services in your area, which matter alongside any telehealth care.
