An Australian telehealth clinic
Telehealth clinic for Perth, WA
Consultations by video or telephone for patients located in Perth, with the WA rules, local hours and fees in one place.
Perth by telehealth
2,430,757 people lived in the Perth urban area at 30 June 2025 on the ABS's preliminary estimate, an increase of 257,998 people since 2021. Perth's urban area, which takes in Mandurah in the ABS's figures, is more than 2,000 kilometres in a straight line from the next state capital, Adelaide. Patients there see a LeafLine Clinician by video or telephone, from home, from work, or from anywhere with reception.
In a city of this size a rooms appointment can cost most of a morning in traffic and parking. Telehealth removes that part: you take the call at home, at work, or in a parked car, and the Clinician works from your history and what you tell them.
What Western Australian law adds for patients in Perth
Western Australia adds a Department of Health approval in defined situations that can reach an adult: a history of drug dependence, oversupply or a substance use disorder in the past five years; a history of psychosis or another psychiatric condition alongside the reason for treatment; and a daily dose above the Department’s published ceiling. Where one applies, the WA application goes in with the federal one and nothing is prescribed until both are granted.
WA Health says prescribers should check ScriptCheckWA, the state’s real-time prescription monitoring system, before prescribing, and asks for the result in any Department application.
The federal side is the same everywhere. Our guide to getting a prescription through SAS-B explains the TGA approval, and if you are moving from another clinic, the Western Australia changing-clinics page covers what transfers and what does not.
Seeing a Clinician from Perth
-
Check your eligibility
A short confidential questionnaire tells you whether the service is a fit before you pay for anything. LeafLine sees adults aged 18 and over.
-
Book video or telephone
Video works on a phone, tablet or computer with a camera. If video is not workable on the day, a telephone consultation is available instead. Support and bookings run 7am to 5pm local time.
-
What to have ready
Have a list of your current medications and doses, any recent letters, results or discharge summaries, your Medicare card if you have one, and your home address, which goes on any prescription. Take the call somewhere private: a parked car works, an open-plan office does not.
-
After the consultation
A consultation does not end in a prescription by default. If the Clinician considers a treatment appropriate and it needs a TGA approval, they lodge a Category B application in their own name, together with any WA application, and wait for both before prescribing. Later reviews follow the same video or telephone format.
Primary Health Networks in Perth
Perth is divided between 2 Primary Health Networks: Perth North PHN (WA Primary Health Alliance) and Perth South PHN (WA Primary Health Alliance). Which one covers you depends on your suburb, and the Australian Government's PHN locator will tell you.
The Australian Government funds 31 Primary Health Networks to plan and commission local primary care, such as after-hours and allied health services, without seeing patients themselves. LeafLine Clinic is independent of every PHN and receives no PHN funding.
