Telehealth clinic for Sunshine Coast, QLD

AHPRA-registered Clinicians for patients in the Sunshine Coast, by secure video or telephone, under the QLD rules set out below.

The Sunshine Coast by telehealth

LeafLine Clinic holds consultations with patients located in the Sunshine Coast by secure video or telephone, with AHPRA-registered Clinicians and no referral needed. The Sunshine Coast runs from Caloundra north to Noosa, with Maroochydore as its main centre. On the ABS's preliminary estimate for June 2025, 424,741 people live in the Sunshine Coast urban area, up from 387,472 in June 2021.

By road, the Sunshine Coast is about 100 kilometres from Brisbane, roughly 85 minutes of driving each way. That is commutable, and plenty of people make the trip, but a telehealth consultation does not need it.

Queensland rules that apply in the Sunshine Coast

For an adult, Queensland has no state approval of its own in this kind of care, and its Regulation contains no per-patient dependence approval for it. The only application your Clinician lodges is the federal one.

Section 41 of the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 (Qld) requires the prescriber to check QScript before every monitored prescription, and your Clinician records the result in your file.

The federal side is the same everywhere. Our guide to getting a prescription through SAS-B explains the TGA approval, and if you are moving from another clinic, the Queensland changing-clinics page covers what transfers and what does not.

How a consultation works from the Sunshine Coast

  1. Check your eligibility

The eligibility questionnaire is confidential and comes before any booking or payment. LeafLine Clinic consults with adults only, aged 18 and over.

  2. Book video or telephone

Choose video if you have a camera and a steady connection, or telephone if you would rather. Both reach the same Clinician and run the same way. Support and bookings run 9am to 7pm local time, year round.

  3. What to have ready

Have a list of your current medications and doses, any recent letters, results or discharge summaries, your Medicare card if you have one, and your home address, which goes on any prescription. Take the call somewhere private: a parked car works, an open-plan office does not.

  4. After the consultation

A consultation does not end in a prescription by default. If the Clinician considers a treatment appropriate and it needs a TGA approval, they lodge a Category B application in their own name, together with any QLD application, and wait for both before prescribing. Later reviews follow the same video or telephone format.

The Sunshine Coast's Primary Health Network

The Primary Health Network for the Sunshine Coast is Central Queensland, Wide Bay, Sunshine Coast PHN. Primary Health Networks are independent organisations funded by the Australian Government to plan and commission primary health care in their regions. They do not hold consultations themselves, and LeafLine Clinic is not part of, funded by or endorsed by any of them.

If you want local services alongside a telehealth Clinician, including a regular GP, the PHN's website is where to start looking.
