An Australian telehealth clinic
Telehealth clinic for Gold Coast, QLD
Consultations by video or telephone for patients located in the Gold Coast, with the QLD rules, local hours and fees in one place.
The Gold Coast by telehealth
691,230 people lived in the City of Gold Coast local government area at 30 June 2025 on the ABS's preliminary estimate, about 9.1 per cent more than in 2021. The Gold Coast runs south to Coolangatta, where the state border separates it from Tweed Heads in New South Wales. Patients there see a LeafLine Clinician by video or telephone, from home, from work, or from anywhere with reception.
By road, the Gold Coast is about 75 kilometres from Brisbane, roughly 60 minutes of driving each way. Close enough to drive in for an appointment, but that still means time off work, the freeway and parking for a consultation held in a room.
Queensland does not observe daylight saving, so from October to April the Gold Coast runs an hour behind Tweed Heads. LeafLine's published hours of 9am to 7pm Melbourne time are Gold Coast time all year.
Queensland rules that apply in the Gold Coast
For an adult, Queensland has no state approval of its own in this kind of care, and its Regulation contains no per-patient dependence approval for it. The only application your Clinician lodges is the federal one.
Section 41 of the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 (Qld) requires the prescriber to check QScript before every monitored prescription, and your Clinician records the result in your file.
Coolangatta is in Queensland and Tweed Heads, across Boundary Street, is in New South Wales. The Queensland rules on this page apply to patients living on the Queensland side; the Tweed Heads page covers the other.
The federal side is the same everywhere. Our guide to getting a prescription through SAS-B explains the TGA approval, and if you are moving from another clinic, the Queensland changing-clinics page covers what transfers and what does not.
Seeing a Clinician from the Gold Coast
-
Check your eligibility
Start with the confidential eligibility questionnaire. It screens out situations the clinic cannot take on, so nobody books a consultation that cannot go ahead. Patients must be 18 or over.
-
Book video or telephone
Video works on a phone, tablet or computer with a camera. If video is not workable on the day, a telephone consultation is available instead. Support and bookings run 9am to 7pm local time, year round.
-
What to have ready
Have a list of your current medications and doses, any recent letters, results or discharge summaries, your Medicare card if you have one, and your home address, which goes on any prescription. Take the call somewhere private: a parked car works, an open-plan office does not.
-
After the consultation
A consultation does not end in a prescription by default. If the Clinician considers a treatment appropriate and it needs a TGA approval, they lodge a Category B application in their own name, together with any QLD application, and wait for both before prescribing. Later reviews follow the same video or telephone format.
The Gold Coast's Primary Health Network
The Gold Coast falls within Gold Coast PHN. A PHN is a regional body funded by the Australian Government that commissions primary care services rather than providing consultations. LeafLine Clinic is a private telehealth clinic with no link to any PHN.
A PHN's website is a sensible place to look for the GPs, pharmacies and community services in your area, which matter alongside any telehealth care.

Yes, by video or telephone from wherever you are in the Gold Coast. LeafLine Clinic's Clinicians are AHPRA-registered, there is no referral requirement, and a confidential eligibility questionnaire comes before any booking.
